Who we are

A community-based organisation

SIDEC was founded in 2025 and legally registered in 2026 to respond to the challenges facing rural and peri-urban households in Laikipia: unpredictable rainfall, limited access to markets, and the exclusion of women and young people from decisions that shape their lives.

We work with existing community structures : self-help groups, cooperatives, schools and county departments, so that every initiative is owned locally and continues long after a project cycle ends.

Community-Led Approach

What we do

Here are some of the six programme areas:

Empowering Women & Youth

SIDEC champions gender equality and youth inclusion by equipping women and young people with leadership, entrepreneurial and life skills.

Boosting Sustainable Livelihoods

We strengthen community resilience by promoting income-generating activities that respect the environment.

Protecting the Environment

SIDEC integrates environmental stewardship into every initiative, ensuring communities thrive alongside nature.

All our efforts are made possible only because of your support.
